Berkeley Home and Safety Repair Program

istock_000004909884small._200px.jpgCESC's Berkeley Home Repair (BHR) program provides free high quality, major and minor home repairs to promote health, safety, and security to low income Berkeley residents.  The program also helps elderly and disabled clients remain in their homes and living independently.

BHR can provide clients with most plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs, furnace and minor roof repairs, and installation of safety features such as grab bars, hand rails, and ramps.

CESC's construction crew is conscientious, considerate, and highly skilled. In Berkeley, the BHR program is supported by the City of Berkeley with HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

CESC works cooperatively with other community groups such as Center for Independent Living, Rebuilding Together, energy efficiency programs administered by the City of Berkeley and PG&E, Rising Sun Energy Center and others.
CESC will also provide low cost home repair services to clients who are not eligible for BHR. To find out if you are eligible for free services in Berkeley, click here.

Energy Tips

Recalibrate your electronic thermostats.  Make sure that the time settings accurately reflect when you need heating and cooling.  It is recommended that you set the temperature settings to 76°F for cooling and 68°F for heating.  For even greater energy savings, set the cooling temperature higher and the heating temperature lower, depending on the needs of your employees and business.
